Campaign Surpasses Goal

Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and friends, the campaign has surpassed its $50 million goal. The campaign was helped significantly by major contributions from the American Electric Power Foundation and from Bill and Dee Brehm.

In addition, we are grateful for hundreds of gifts from thousands of donors who believe in EMU.

This support will allow EMU to sustain its current excellence while also adding new resources, key capital projects and programs, through its endowment. In other words: In the face of shrinking resources and state funding, this support will endow EMU’s future.

There’s still time to be part of this historic campaign. Gifts received prior to June 30, 2012 will help many more students achieve their educational goals.

The campaign’s priorities reflect EMU’s strengths.

Developing Leaders for the 21st Century. Tomorrow’s jobs will come from knowledge-based industries such as alternative energy and biotechnology. EMU must prepare students for these new economies. The Developing Leaders initiative supports student independent research projects, volunteerism, global learning experiences and co-curricular programs that build leaders.

Connecting Learning to Community Needs. EMU has a proud history of using its resources, faculty and students for community needs. The Connecting Learning initiative supports specialized research centers, practical internships and partnerships with community organizations.

Sustaining and Strengthening the Eastern Experience. EMU’s top-rated learning environment is a key to student success. This initiative supports faculty development, scholarships and financial aid, and activities for the entire EMU community.
